Default What to do with $6k?

if you had $5k-$6k and a stock stook what would you buy?

choices

(1)
*Comptech SC-$4590
*HKS hiper exhaust-$1075

or

(2)
*RM racing cold air intake-$475
*RM racing strut bar-$195
*RM racing front chin spoiler-$148
*H&R coilover suspension-$1385
*MUGEN headers-$1300
*HKS hiper exhaust-$1075
*SPOON x-brace- $205
*SPOON flywheel-dont know price
*G-TECH performance meter-$140
*VALENTINEone radar detector-$400

i know choice 1 will give me the best performance but choice 2 sounds more reliable for street running and has alot of goodies

Maybe you should invest it in the depressed tech sector of the stock market, Brocade (BRCD) for example. Then in 5 years buy everything on the list....twice.

The comptech S/C is poopy, there will be several alternatives coming out in the near future which will offer the same boost, but at a much lower RPM.. I know track times aren't all that accurate, but I ran a 9.2 (and I know I could go faster) in the 1/8th with a 50 shot of nitrous, and a comptech S/C runs 8.99 .. I spent ALOT less for .2 seconds ..

I am not impressed with the Comptech S/C at all.

The HKS exhaust is nice, I love the sound of mine..

Other things on your list that I wouldn't get..

*RM racing cold air intake-$475 (This is not a good option for an intake from what I understand.. Apparently there is power loss?? Would be replaced with forced induction option anyways, waste of money.. hugely over priced for a tube and a filter... AEM has a CAI which actually gains power coming out in approx
10 weeks )
*MUGEN headers-$1300 (you may not want these if you go with forced induction some day.. these removes the turbo option, unless you take a hit on the money)
*SPOON flywheel-dont know price (I wouldn't get this if this is a daily driver..)
*G-TECH performance meter-$140 (doesnt improve performance )
*VALENTINEone radar detector-$400 (same..)

On the other hand, the spoon X brace is an extremely good thing to get, also a strut tower brace..

I am iffy on the coilovers.. if you are doing it just to lower your ride height, then you may want to consider the comptech coilovers which go for 600 bucks or so, but it uses the stock suspension which isnt too bad actually..

I am getting 18" HRE's, and I also got Perrelli PZero's.. this setup cost around 5400 or so total -- I wouldn't recommend this if you only have 6 grand.. the HKS exhaust is good just for the sound and weight loss, there is no performance gain.. The HKS exhaust is also very hard to find right now because HKS is back ordered.. also HKS raised the price, so companies that are just getting them in stock now are selling them for 100-150 more than they used to be ..

The Spoon, J's, and Mugen (single) exhaust are the exhausts to get to improve performance, the only problem with that is that you have to import them (pain in the ass if no one has them instock!!) and that they sound like a Civic a low RPM's .. (I hate the sound of a deep 4 cylinder exhaust.. sounds so fake)

The J's exhaust with out the catalitic converter sounds amazing, however.. there is a sound clip at their site (also you can do a search) http://www.jsracing.co.jp -- you can use the translator at http://babelfish.altavista.com

Have fun with your 6K!!

CoralDoc turned me on to this site for some Central Florida track time -

http://www.chinmotorsports.com/participant...list.asp?eid=10

Spend $225 to drive your car on Sebring and see what the steering wheel, tires and throttle body transmit for needs.
This is about 3 - 3.5 hours from you in Miami. Oh yeah a helmet, there's another $400, you might want a room for $80, buffet for $30, gas to and from, a friend to drive for $50 don't worry - you'll spend $5K in no time.
