My wife drove the car straight home from the dealer.
Then we all loaded into my truck and drove 1200 miles to Mid-Ohio for the runoffs.
So the first week of ownership the car sat in the garage and I was elsewhere.

Sent out an email and changed my voicemail to say that I would be out of the office travelling. Then I drove to Hershey Park with my girlfriend to act like a kid with a new toy.

I drove it home --about 125 miles -- watching the tach like a hawk. Then I admired the car in the garage for about an hour. Once my young kids had gone to bed, I took my wife for a spin around the cul-de-sac. My wife thought I was nuts, especially when I told her that I had not turned on the radio once on the drive home.

By the time the paperwork was done it was late, and dark, so I just drove it home and kept thinking why what a cool car and check out those headlights. I had to bum a ride back to the Honda dealer from my roommate to pick up my other car and marvled at the ride difference between my car and his Mustang. Got home and read the manual until 1:00 AM. Marveled at the headlights some more.

Picked it up about a year ago mid-November. It was late, so I drove it home and put it in the garage. Spent the next two evenings reading the manual and checking out where everything was located. Due to the weather, never got the top down until mid May and it has not been up since. Felt foolish the first time I lowered the top as I forgot you had to set the emergency brake to get it to work. Finally had to reread the manual. Another item to check out initially is where the gas door release is located, rather than wait until you need gas.
Have fun.

I just sent a link to this board and this topic to my gf. Told her this was what she had to look forward to. She is so sick of hearing about my car. I just got a promotion and will have to commute to work for about 2 months. 150 mile round trip 5 days a week. I'll be getting my car in about a month so that means 1 month of comumuting. Should I take her 00 civic si, and let her drive the stook, or should I really put 3000 miles on it the first month just to drive to work?

Boy, that sounds familiar. I had to promise my wife I wouldn't buy any more cars for at least 3 years. I had to make the promise in the presence of the salesman, before she agreed to add her signature to the bill of sale!
