They did a good job of not answering my question:
CR: I am not sure they understood your question.

After reading Bborzell's post I went and personally dissasembled my driver's seat, took out the leather, etc. and found the legend:
"Made in Italy by Recaro for Honda S2000 1999-2003 ONLY

Wow, that's like photgraphing bigfoot or the Loch Ness monster or something. Speaking of photos, I would love to have a picture of this. May I also add I think it takes a big man to admit when they are wrong or misinformed, and that is what I believe this is. Finally I don't think this was a pointless thread as others have stated. I appreciate the effort to bring a myth or debate to an end and get the real story.
After re-reading your post and seeing that you are being sarcastic. How sad... I should have known "Italy", plus although manufacturing had begun, there was no 1999 model in any country.

I believe they are Recaro. I have no proof to offer. I have read in maybe 2 or 3 auto magazines that this is the case. Also I really was pretty unaware of Recaro as a manufacturer before I got my S2000, so it wasn't really shocking to me, like someone saying "ooh your gas gauge is made by Ferrari" or somesuch. The wheels on the first gen are Enkei, this I have seen. Also some JDM OEM's from BBS I think. I have no idea about the steering wheel, I have read Momo as well.
So, until I know otherwise due to some Honda published proof, Recaro. I don't think I would trust a website or an e-mail (from Honda even). You never know who is responding. I would like to see something published like a press release that was prepaired.
Finally, Back-Cracker says Recaro. It is still unclear to me if he asked the visiting Honda representatives specifically "are our seats recaro?" or in what capacity they represented Honda. Nonetheless, Back-Cracker says Recaro.

I believe I have the most complete S2000 library of anyone.

I did a quick review to see when Recaros were first mentioned in the media. From what I could see it was the January 1999 issue of Road & Track on page 70 under Interior. I quote, "The seats themselves are wonderfully contoured Recaros that provide first-class lateral support."

On the other hand, I have the initial road reports from around the world - UK, Germany, Holland, Australia, France, etc. as well as the official press releases and press kits. Glancing through these I see NO additional reference to Recaros. In fact, I scanned through my entire 1999 literature (and believe me there was a lot that year) which included reports from everyone from Motor Trend to Motor Week and I didn't come across the word Recaro anywhere.

I might also mention that I have had my driver's seat out numerous times and have never seen any indication that it's a Recaro.

I am inclinded to think it was mis-reported by R&T and carryed on by wishful owners.

Dlq (Dave): That has been my contention from the begining.
The Recaro website does not include the S2000, yet they mention the Acura NSX and If memory serves, there are no recaro logos in their seats either, so I bought Back crackers' assertion that our seats are Recaros without labels, (like the acura's) since he actually met personally with the developers of the car. That lends some weight to the claim.

"I have read in maybe 2 or 3 auto magazines that this is the case."

Perhaps my memory betrays me on this point. I have looked through my meager auto magazine library and was unable to find any reference to Recaro seats in an S2000. Also, I admit auto magazines are not gospel truth.
