Its to cover the place where you screw your two hook in. One in front and one in the back

Yep, tow hook attachment points. I popped mine open once because I just *had* to see them.

The front one covers the mount for the optional 50 caliber machine gun. The rear cover is where the james Bond oil spray apparatus mounts.
