when i brought my mugen hard top in to get it painted at the paint shop, one of the guys who work there looked at the hardtop on the car after it was painted and said: "why are you trying to make it look like a Miata?"

yup, the enter and exit part of the car is a pain to everyone. You really have to lift yourself to get out. I just explain to my passengers that the procedure is: step the legs out, grab a whole of the seat and the dash, LIFT, and you're out. Normally people try to leave by just using all leg power. That's a nono.
I tell my passengers to put their left foot in and then fall into the seat, works well.

When first seeing the car, my girlfriend's mom said "So it's front wheel drive, right?" I guess because it's a Honda, it must be a FWD econo car. Just like Honda's Formula 1 cars

In less than one month of ownership, I've heard the Miata thing twice...I took it (and its black 10-spoke wheels) to my parents' house for the first time, and my mom asked why it had "spare tires" on it...sigh...on the other hand, my dad asked if it was the one with the two sets of cams, which was pretty cool...

Never heard a negative comment. I expect some sort of "oh it's a Honda" statement someday.
But, as all of us know, to own a Honda is to love a Honda.
Everyone else is welcome to enjoy their cars and any issues that come with them.
