Were you ever hated in HS because of your car?

I think people are growing up, and kids in high school have yet to learn that everyone is 'weird'.
I'm sure there were people who disliked me in high school, but who cares? There are people who dislike me now.
Are you defined by the people who don't like you or the people that know and like you?
If it's not the car, it's the way you live, dress, act, interest etc. People generally dislike others when
1. They have something they want
2. Are uncertain about themselves and you seem to be confident
I think in high school people mistook my direct nature as something else. I was a straight shooter, work almost full time hours in the last 2 years and just came to class when need be. A few of my teachers were cool with this and some of the new ones thought I was disrespectful not to attend all their classes. Things didn't change much when I went to college, same story different place.
I wouldn't read in too much about what others think. Listen to your close friends and family.

I was in HS in the late 1990's. I drove a 1989 Oldsmobile Cutlass Sierra when I was 17 and bought a 1989 Honda CRX HF when I was 18...so no... I was not hated on for my car in HS....although chics thought my CRX was "cute".

I don't know about everyone else but it definitely seems like the standards are getting higher, at least in my town and bordering towns also. In 2000 my sister got a new Sunfire as her first car and that thing was the nicest car in the HS parking lot...period. The other kids that were envied had new Escorts and Civics, but not even brand new. In 2005 by the time I was on my way out, I had a WRX...kids had S2000s, Evos, Acuras, Lexus, you name it. The other day I drove my there and some kid had a Hummer. It's unbelievable.

I think it's stupid to be in High school and have a nice car....unless your lucky enough to have rich parents who foot the bill.
You are many times more likely to wreck your first car than any other car you will ever own due to lack of experience and immaturity. Why wreck an expensive car?
