Were you ever hated in HS because of your car?

My brother had a 99 Eclipse GS-T in his senior year(he graduated in 99). This was before the whole fast and furious movie came out.
He had an exhaust, system and a blow off valve. I would get rides with him everyday and everyone knew he was my brother and they would ALWAYS ask about the PSHHH sound. I would try to explain but they would never understand. They would ask "hey how can i get my car to do that?"
Every where i would go i would here someone go PSHHH from some kid.
Everyone thought his car was super badass and girls would always ask for rides.
But then he got crank walk

I graduated in 09'. Senior year I had the s and my two best friends had an STI (turbo back exhaust, access port)and evo ix (lightly modded, 350whp). People didn't hate us, we we're definitely more liked because of it actually. Still can't believe one kid with an rx-7 one Best Car in the yearbook..

When I graduated we didn't have the best car award, we just took a picture with a bunch of our nice cars as we sat on them. Pretty sad though, mine was the only one that had any balls. Next to me in the picture is an Eclipse GT, V-6 Mustang, a 325i, and a 6-cylinder Firebird.
I guess when people aren't very educated about cars they just look at ones that look "cool" and think they're fast or something. IMO none of those cars look too great but whatever.

I actually didn't have a car throughout high school - but I lived like 4 blocks away, so I didn't mind.
Funny thing now - I STILL look like I'm 17.
Driving a heavily modded S2000 top down ALWAYS gets me jealous looks or the "hater" comments about daddys money or driving daddys car or some crap.
I have to stop myself each time from yelling "I'm 30 years old you f***ing idiots!" - because I realize it bothers than more that they think Im some teenager with this car at my disposal.
It works with older guys too checking out the 2010 CTS-V in a parking lot. They always double or triple take with a confused look when they see some "teenager" get in.

Drove a 88 Celica halfway through school then moved to a 90 Celica.
Kept them clean, no mods, To everyone else it was just another "poor mans" car. Till I got my Amp and sub woofer. After that all the haters started hating.
No damage really done to my car. Only thing was down was someone snapped my radio antennae off. Whatever, makes it look sleeker anyways
