Were you ever hated in HS because of your car?

Not many people that "had" cars in high school owned them themselves, and an even smaller percentage of nicer cars were owned by students themselves. I never understood how people took much pride in driving around cars their parents bought for them or thought less of others based on what their parents gave them. I bought a 300zx turbo the summer before my senior year and paid every penny associated with it, I was the only one I knew of that did that who wasn't driving a 2-3k$ car besides a few other guys. Friend of mine on the baseball team had a landscaping business like I did and had an incredible late 90's lifted truck with 40" tires. Goof ball lost it in a creek though.

I was a military brat at a base high school in a country where the driving age was higher than high school age.
Not to worry, though. It being a typical high school, they found plenty of other excuses to hate...

I drive my S to school daily as well. Usually the only comments I get are either "that's a girl car" or them dissing my color (Suzuka Blue). I just tell them I like the color and they won't think it's a girl car if they were ever privileged enough to get a ride in it.
A few of my friends always say bad things about it, but they're just messing around. There is one kid with a black Evo X who I don't even know, but people have told me whoever drives it talks about how slow my car is and how much cooler he is apparently because of his Evo. Also, there's a kid with a 2010 Camaro, but he has a V6. He hasn't said anything that I know of, but he always gives me weird looks.
Everyone knows my car because of the distinctive color and the dark tint, but most of them don't hate it that I know of.
