Were you ever hated in HS because of your car?

Are you kidding reactor? How could you not like a 68 Camaro? Thats like a motorhead sin...
Yea the car guys at my high school hated my car haha. They always asked me "why I modified a Saturn its a crappy car", "Why don't you just buy a fast car?". I had a 1994 Saturn SL2 (still have it, has somewhere around 250k miles odo died about 10 years ago) which I did all my own work on and had it set up fairly nicely for autocross. They didn't understand that I actually paid for my car and work done to it, total build including purchasing my car was $3000. I went to HS in south FL, in a fairly rich area. There were 3 Hummer H1s, prob about a dozen M3s, more 3 series BMWs than you could count, along with the typical assortment of Camaro Mustangs Lexus' and other sports cars. Difference was I actually paid for my car and the stuff done to it. I wouldn't say they hated on me, just totally didn't understand why I gave a crap about my car.
It was really fun convincing the rich kids to come autocross tho, beating dumb rich kids in IS250s, 350Zs and BMWs with a Saturn was always good entertainment

I graduated high school in 04 and went to a school with lots of spoiled kids and maybe I was one of them but I drove a 1971 MGB and I never got anything but compliments everywhere I went. My parents bought it brand new and they gave it to me when I was 16. I still have the car to this day and it only has 60,000 miles. Here are some pics of it, my dad is driving.
When I was in high school I didnt think it was a big deal but looking back it kinda was for a 16 year old to be driving a car like that. I have just had a blessed life

Our high school wasn't really big into cars, but me and my closer friends did get a little hate looking back. First car was a new Civic Si, which granted, isn't some amazing car but in 2000-2001 that was pretty dman cool as far as young kids were concerned.
It got worse after I started really modding it. Kit, wheels, coils, what have you. I definitely asked for it though, since I'd make it a point to purge nitrous from the windshield washer holes or rev when stuck in the high school lot jam, along with my friends who had nicer cars too. We're all stupid at that age so I think I deserved the hate I got. At least I never got keyed or anything.

I bought my s2000 senior year of high school and got a lot of disrespect. Antennas were stolen, one day i had a frosty from wendy's poured all over my car, the passenger side got keyed, etc. Sucked but karma is a bitch.

I only had an Accord when I was in high school so no hate but my friend had a yellow type-r that got keyed all the time. It got to the point where he stopped getting it fixed bc it would get keyed again as soon as it was.

I graduated HS in '05 and had a '96 Eclipse GS-T for junior year and got a '96 Integra GSR for senior year.
I paid for both myself and modded them with the typical equipment (wheels, coilovers, brakes, exhaust, etc) but I was never into body kits so I flew lower on the radar than the civics and accords with the big body kits. My friends knew my cars were nice, but the others were none the wiser.
