Graduated HS in 2005. First car I drove was a 96 Mercedes e320 with 230k miles, which was a hand me down from my dad. I never was the show off type, but still got a lot of grief from some of the kids about me driving a benz. Ended up giving it back to my dad about a year later and he still drives it to this day (has about 350k miles now and still looks mint).

After that, my dad went half with me on a stolen recovery 03 accord. car had a clean title, but was pretty gutted. spent about a year working my ass off to buy the parts to get it back on the road. learned a lot and ended up heavily modding it. I was never really hated for the cars I had per se, but there were a few quips and jokes thrown around from time to time between friends.

I was in HS longer ago than most in this thread (before many of you were born), but we had a group of like-minded nerd-guys that had 5-10 year old Corvettes. I worked for one entire summer to make enough money to buy mine even though others were given cars. There were many interesting modded cars on campus so there wasn't much animosity and a lot of good exchange of information. The only "hate" that I saw was one kid whose father gave him new Corvettes whenever he need them (he totaled several). Everyone knew the local "rich kid" and the track team managed to sit on his car with their track cleats on (not me).

No one ever hated me or noticed really when I drove the S to school. When I drove my brothers NSX one day to school, I had friends I didn't even know about.

I only had people (who drove lexuses and Mercedes and other luxury cars that were much more expensive than my car whose parents bought their car for them) try to tell me I was spoiled even though I payed for most of my car myself. I guess the S looks fast and expensive (which is a good thing I guess). Other than that, no hatin. No real enthusiasts either though.

I love all the attention i get from my bright yellow S2K with my high revving engine and nice @$$ sound system. We are doing senior superlatives right now and i most likely will win for best car.

Drove a 1991 red Toyota Celica in highschool. Great little car. Not fast at all, but fun enough when you're 16. I lowered it, put 16" alloys on it (stock = 14" steelies), got an exhaust system, and put two silver stripes down the middle.

Keep in mind I was 16 in 1998 and this was before the "Fast and the Furious" phase of automotive customization hit.
