Were you ever hated in HS because of your car?
I thought this thread was pretty relevant after this thread showed up:

I was replying to this guy's thread and I noticed that my reply was ridiculously long, so I figured maybe others would share similar opinions/stories. So, I'll start.
I graduated in 2005, and the car I had junior and senior year was a 2002 WRX...some kids had nicer cars but this was definitely an awesome car to have. Anyway, junior year most people liked me for it or sucked up to me...some maybe wanted rides but I actually made some friends through it, which c'mon I was 17 so...I liked it. Anyway, senior year all of these stupid kids (no offense to any of you that drive VWs, but I hate them very much) bought VWs. They thought their 1.8t's and VR6's were the coolest and fastest cars ever made, and everyone who didn't have one was lame.
Now, at 23 years old I could bash those kids and their cars all day long, but that's not the point. Not only was my car considerably faster than all of theirs (all I had was STi exhaust, an Injen CAI and a TurboXS BOV) but it looked a lot less ridiculous, and not to mention I never showed off. To make a long story short, I would hear at least a few times a month that people wanted to jump me, or about how much people hated me for no apparent reason. But it always seemed to be a certain group of kids, and it still is like that I think. Every story I hear, and even in the movies. Over the years these kids matured a little and we're all cool now, but it's too bad that a person like me who honestly didn't show off or challenge anyone had to put up with this crap.
Like that thread above said...karma is a b**** and three of those kids now work at shop rite

I wish kids at my HS were in ANY way involved with cars. I think i was the only one with a 94' SC300 dumped on Ibach springs, Injen intake and Borla duels. (i used to pretend it was a supra) There were a few Honda kids in the grades above me but it was like civics, crx, etc. I could get into those now but not then.

I had a 2000 Pontiac Sunfire sedan. I was not hated. There were some cool cars (back then in 2002-2003). 2000 Civic Si, lowered, decent amount of engine work. Turbo Altima. Brand new 350z. Integra GSR. Atleast, those cars were cool back then. Looking back, they didn't have crazy paint or neons. Modest exteriors and nice engine bays.

I had the same problem. Everyone was jealous of my aqua colored automatic '91 accord sedan.
Honestly though, there are some REALLY affluent neighborhoods around my old HS. Some of the kids drove $80-100k cars, but no one really messed with each others' cars. People would brag about nice cars, but they wouldn't waste their breath hassling people for driving beaters. They just ignored them.
The problem was that most couldn't handle the cars...
One guy had a tuned fully built supra with a veilside body kit putting out 500rwhp as his FIRST CAR. His dad flat out bought it. They had nothing to do with the mods and had no understanding of them (he didn't even know if it was SC or turbo or the difference between them). The kid totaled the car and himself in 2 months. He was a wonderful guy- humble and kind despite his $ and his parents' elitist attitude.
Another person killed himself in an 03 cobra given to him as his first car.
Another killed himself in an 02 WS6 trans am.
Another in a tuned Ford Lightening.
In total, 4 people that I knew well and really liked died behind the wheel of performance cars in 1.5 years.

I'm a senior in high school now, and drive my s2k to school every day. Ive never had any insults said against me, or my car. All Ive had are compliments, or just comments in general.
