check it out... i tuck my ipod under the radio door. it keeps the door lifted and prevents it from hitting my knee, which is a problem when its down... its easy to access the buttons from there and it has never slid out or moved.. try it!
mine is mounted simular to this, except that my radio door goes all the way down still (80GB ipod and ap1 door). I keep a few napkins on top of the ipod so that I can put the radio door up, and the napkins hide the ipod :-)
I'm using the USA Spec unit that integrates the ipod into the factory stereo utilizing the CD changer plug on the back of the head unit. On my AP2 I ran the cable under the center console, drilled a hole into the cup holder area (cup holder is a joke anyway) used a rubber grommet to finish it off and I keep my Ipod in the center console area so when I park the car all I have to do is close the cover to hide the "pod".
Mine is attached to the back of the glove box door via velcro on a hard iPod case. My wireless remote for my modifry seatbelt lock is right next to it.
Right now my HU uses an AUX in for the ipod so I keep it in the AP1 cup holder so I can still control it. My other car has a Pioneer with full ipod control so I want to get one of those, then keep the ipod in the glovebox btw the seats and just run everything from the HU. Honestly it works fine for now so it is not a priority.
