is it bad for the transmission to shift it into 2nd when it's cold and notchy?

If you double clutch, it'll go into 2nd gear smoother, but it's such a hassle

ditto on the double clutch...seems to take a few more minutes for the tranny to get up to temp than the engine. even my 15,000 mile s2k had notchy shifting when cold. its a 2005, do any of u guys with ap1 cars have this issue, i think the blocking rings are carbon on ap2 will anyone confirm?

Heavy countersunk knob is the best, 250g for stock height is perfect, the lower you go the more weight u need to make it not too notchy. 450g at stock height is too heavy to me and made the shifting too soft.

GM fluid helps alot especially in cold morning. Regrease the shifter helps but not much.

Shouldn't.

On cool days I start off slower, shift around 4K and take my time the first 10-15 minutes of driving.

My Moddiction Anvil shift knob significantly reduced the notchiness. It really can't be beaten, especially for the price.

These days I'm more of the opinion that the Aisin transmission is good for about 30k mi and after that, notchiness is just a characteristic of its break in. A weighted knob will help with inertia in the shifts, but the transmission is just notchy.

Yes I've read somewhere on this forum it likes to be revved high and shifted at higher rpms. It's smoother when shifting 3-4k+ rpm
