Default weight reduction

I am contemplating the removal of my convertable top and motor mechanism to decrease weight for the track. How much does it all weigh and how hard is it to remove and to reinstall? I have an oem hard top to replace it with-- it weighs ~45lbs.

Well, it's a very small, thin, non-insulated top. The frame is not very large, and due to the small size and low weight of the top, the motor does not have to be very large.

Replacing the entire soft-top assembly with the OEM hardtop should save you around 20lbs. However, take into account the aerodynamic benefits of the ht as well.

This is correct but I think it's closer to 100 than 150.

Basically you will shed about fifty pounds with the hardtop and no softtop/motor.

63 pounds for the softop and motors. 42 or 43 pounds for the factory hardtop, so the net saving is about 20 pounds. JL9000 already said it but there are aerodynamic benefits to the hardtop as well.
