The three largest contributors to insurance rates are:

1) Location
2) Tickets/accidents
3) Credit

If you don't have #2 or problems with #3 than your only option is to move. Outside of that, you can improve your credit rating and/or wait for tickets/accidents to fall off your record after three years.

I get a discount from Allstate on my S2000 by agreeing to drive it less than 5000 miles per year and no commuter driving.

I get to drive it 16 more miles before the first week of January if I don't want to exceed this year's mileage allotment.

Get a motorcycle and claim it as your primary vehicle and keep your S as a "pleasure car" maybe even put a milage cap on it. Just be sure to up the milage if your going to go over!!!!

1. Get older
2. Get married
3. Keep away from tickets and accidents
4. have a multi-policy account (i.e. home and autos from the same company)
5. Keep annual mileage low or register as a "weekend car" (if you can reasonably do so)
6. If you are married and you have tickets/accidents, but your wife doesn't, register it in her name
7. Shop the policy each year (especially if you don't have a multi-policy account)
8. Increase your deductible
9. Move to a cheaper area for insurance
10. Unless you move with #7, keeping your policy with a single company can yield multi-year discounts
11. Have an alarm installed (YMMV. Might not save you anything)

In his situation, this is the main point but I don't think he can wait that long.

I want to use the S as my Daily driver, so the Cap on the milage wouldn't be sufficient nor would a second car, but thanks for the idea.

Does anyone have a car in their parents name in any way and how much cheaper does it make your payments.

Increase your deductible. If you're comfortable with an extra $500, you might save some major money...
