I had ceramic pads as OE on my older Dodge Stealth, but I didn't have organic/other pads to compare them to.

I had the same problem. Even tried waxing the wheels with no help. Maybe I was using the wrong type of wax. It sucks how dirty Gold wheels can look after just a light spirited drive.

AP2 pads dust a ton more than AP1's but they are better pads, better feel/bite/durability.

I did a little research on ceramic pads here. A few people mentioned that the Akebono Proact ceramics are almost as good as AP2 OEM, stopping power wise, but not good for track. Anyone have any inputs on the Hawk Performance Ceramic Pads that Tire Rack sells?

Thanks!

Hmm, the brake dust comes right off with the same mix I use for washing the car if I take care of it once a week. Zaino on the wheels also helps a bit.

I had to Google this for more information, and was able to find this on The Tire Rack Web site. Do the pads really perform as advertised? Have you been to the track with the pads? Do you know whether or not they produce higher rotor wear?

On the surface this looks like a viable solution to the dust problem.

Anyone else have experience with ceramic pads?
(Tbtak, I saw your post. )
I had Akebono pads on my XJ8. There was virtually no dust at all. They stopped as well as the stock Jaguar pads and there was no brake squeal with them. I can't help you as far as track performance.

i was thinking the same thing...Just get a set of Hawk pads. never thought about waxin the wheels tho
I use the Hawk HP+ pads. They dust worse than the OEM pads. No Problem. I polished the wheels with Zaino ClearCoat Polish.

It does help that I have three sets of wheels and change a couple of times a month. Every time the wheels are off the car they ge a good scrubbing with Mean Green.

Old fartz with fat bellies do not like to bend over so I use a RubberMaid trash can for a wheel wash stand.

Hahaha, Ryan or one of our other mechanics are more likely to be taking the wheels off the car than me, and they better NOT put them back on without cleaning them up first. I like your trash can idea, but I'm playing the old fart thing for all it's worth.
