Shad was surprised that the axle snapped. He's very curioous, wants to see pictures, obviously because building for this car is his job. He pretty much said, "Yeah, this car wasn't built for drag racing...so this kind of stuff is going to come up every once in a while..."

Updates:
[list=1]
[*]John Eagle mentioned that Honda called once they (John Eagle) had requested a quote on a replacement axle. Honda wanted to know how the axle had snapped. Turns out 7-8 stoocks have snapped axles.

[*]I contacted a Spoon distributor ( http://www.spoon-sports.com ) who confirmed that there is a Spoon axle that can be purchased. The guy was going to contact Spoon to get me the full price as he felt I needed to buy more than just the axle (something about a 'core'). I'm going to email him the part number, and have him confirm anything in relation to the Spoon part being the correct replacement.

[QUOTE]From email
Spoon does make balanced driveshafts for the rear of the S2K.

A friend at an Acura delaership told me that all Comptech parts do not void your Honda/Acura warranty. Is this true?

He's suggesting that the Spoon price is for an exchange of your existing drive axle. I guess they just take a stock axle and balance and shot peen it or whatever. Because yours is broken they will require you to buy a Honda one to be treated.

This is exactly the same as Comptech'd 'core charge' for the crank pulley.

Hey Wes, so will your axle be covered under Honday warranty if SC didn't cause the break?

My warranty is expired (I have 38,000+ miles), so nothing is covered by Honda. Comptech has not suggested that this would be covered either, mainly because it's not a malfunction of the SC.

Hey Wes, there was a typo in my question. I meant to say if Honda would cover your axle under warranty if the SC didn't cause it to snap. But I guess it doesn't matter now since your warranty expired. Good luck with the repair.
