Default VTEC Problem...

I think there is something wrong with my car. It is either the clutch slipping or a VTEC problem. When I downshift into 3rd gear to hit VTEC, the car does not accellerate. It just whines up the RPM's. It does the same thing when I am just sitting in 3rd gear and gas it past VTEC. It does not grab the gear or something. Everything is fine below VTEC, and yes, my foot is off the clutch when this happens. Im sort of freakin' out about this, I'm going to get it checked out next week sometime. But until then, I'm letting VTEC sleep for a while. If you guys have any idea whats going on with my car, or have any suggestions of what to do, that would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Keith

this is what happens when your clutch wears out. it will grip with lower HP, but when you exceed it's grip capability, it slips.

replace it. or soon, the car won't move at all.

The faster the car moves, the more power required. A worn out clutch will first slip at higher power levels.

Take it easy driving until you get the clutch replaced. Too much slippage, along with the heat buildup, could damage the flywheel and make the clutch replacment cost more.
