Default VTEC going into safe mode...

When I let off the throttle in vtec for over 3-4 seconds, my check engine light comes on and Vtec goes into safe mode until I turn the car off and on. If I stay on the gas, pull it out of gear, or shift to another gear it won't go into safe mode.

Not being able to maintain higher RPMs in the mountains prohibits me from getting all I can out of my S = / (When I need it)

The only mod I have that could've interfered with this would be my VAFCII. Does the VTM signal have anything to do with this? I never hooked the VTM up and I'm no electronics guru....

Thanks everyone.

Mine did the same I think its something 2 do with the vtec cross-over. Which means your VAFC is not tuned properly. Reset the Vafc and see if it still does it

make shure you have a good connection at the splice., and make shure it was saudered ( if thats how you spell it, spell checks down) and not clamped together. i had the same problem, it's your vafc.

Interesting....I'll check my connections. I wired it using female/male connectors so I could take it in and out easily. I reset the vafc and it still does it, hopefully it's my flaw!

Thanks everyone, I'll tell you if the problem persists.

Overmind, when you setup the VAFC if you set it up to where VTEC disengages later than the stock setting itll set the check engine light, so id just make sure that Disengagement of VTEC is the same as stock has it set at. It happens on my buddies S all of the time.
