I don't think this is old news -- the 9/02 edition of Road and Track has an informative review of the Vortech S/C in our car. Interesting, and fairly unimpressive results (I thought). It totally froze my thought pattern about installing a s/c (and maybe a Turbo - depends on the kick-in RPM) . The Mag should be available on the stand still - not sure if the article is on the net (have not looked).
Sorry about the "Vortech" typo in the heading of this note ...

Dan. the posts you referenced seem to be referring to a motor trend mag report -- was that a typo on the other poster's part -- or in fact are there now two mags (motor trend and road and track) which have both given weak reviews of the S/C performance ??

Defender,
That's an eclectic mix of cars you got in your stable. Very nice
I was wondering the same thing. The article I saw was in Road and Track, September issue. They got a car with Vortec V-2 ("super quiet" ) blower, Advanced Clutch, bigger wheels/tires, and shorter springs. Also, an auxiliary fuel pump.
turbo_pwr's reference thread is allegedly for Motor Trend, but I don't know.
In any case, I don't feel this was a bad review though, Defender. Their argument is that the SC doesn't give the engine much more down low. Isn't that accurate (I don't know, I don't have one)?
Anyway, best wishes !

If a turbo (or S/C for that matter ) came out with good low-end boost I would be inclined to get it -- but as for rapid acceleration above 60 MPH -- nah it will just get me in trouble , lots of trouble (and I am getting too old for that kinda sh_t !!!).
Have fun !! Looking forwards to the Fall Colors Event , and MAY do the Dragon before that ...
