If you are going for pure light weight... i think the spoon wheels have the best number.???

I think luis posted they weigh roughly 11lbs for 16"??? the offsets seemed awfully low though.?

Yeah.. The Spoons SW338s are nice too.. They're actually Promoda Regamaster EVOs and those come in silver. Spoon come only in black and the offsets are 35 front and 45 rears. A little to close to the fenders for my tastes. I'll stick with the TE37s rather than the Spoons. I think they weigh the same and the Volks look stronger.

There is also the Advan RGs, 16x7 and 16x8, 44 and 48 offset respectively, slightly heavier than the TE37s though. SSR Type Cs, 16x7 and 16x8, 42 and 45 offsets 5.47 kgs and 5.89 kgs, so that's around 12-13 pounds, still decent.

I got to thinking that I should pursue that JDM BBS option. Maybe Giampiero can help.

I tried to get a line on these through a dealer that travels to Japan six months ago without much luck. I am still interested in getting the lightest wheel (16 is fine) with a good look and a reasonable price. Not a real Volk TE fan, but I have been thinking it is one of the few choices.

Ya, Volks te37 and Mugen mf10 16" are probably the lightest 16" you can find out there, provided that you can get the correct offsets and widths.

Do I hear Group Buy? GROUP BUY... GROUP BUY... GROUP BUY...

I e-mailed Giampiero last week, never got back to me. Maybe I'll e-mail him again. Better yet maybe he could post here some info and prices, that's if he's around.

Well, Giampiero came through.

He said $1640 a set plus shipping for the JDM BBSs. He didn't did me a group price though. Well, its a Honda part, its a BBS wheel, it looks OK.

Here's a link to a picture: http://www.honda.co.jp/S2000/style/gallery...to/photo10.html

He didn't give me anymore specs. Giampiero, if you're here just post the specs for weight, etc. here. Thanks

As far as I'm concerned, all bets are off if the BBSs are not that light. Mugen MF10s are still an option.

Here a link: http://www.kingmotorsports.com/integra/wheels.shtm

There is a 16x7 50mm offset MF10, I'm almost sure that the bolt pattern is 5x114.3. These are made for the Integra. These I will use for the front(inertia thing). Since speedo reading will not be affect by the front tires, I'll play with the tire sizes if 225/50-16 sidewalls are still soft.

I will go with the 17x8.5 59mm offset MF10s for the rear. These are made for the S2K. There are alot of car the use different wheels sizes, the NSX for one. They're also at the King Motorsports site. I will use 255/40-17 rubber for the rears. Kumho V700s are available in this size.

No problems switching the front to the rears if you get a flat. 225/50-16 and 255/40-17 are the same height and diameter.

I hope this clears it.

The Honda Japan website confirms that the optional BBS wheels are the same width as stock (6.5 / 7.5) and that they are forged. There are words describing them as lighter but no weight specification that I can decipher (something about 8kg but I am not sure what they are referring to and if there is a

BBSpoon,

I liked your post, however I think there are a couple of numbers off in your rim weights.

You mention that 16'' HREs weigh 16-17lbs being same as stock wheels. From what I remember, the stock cast wheels (USDM 5 spoke wheels) were something like 20+ lbs a rim. The JDM BBS 6 spoke wheels are closer to the 16-17lbs weight. As far as I know the Spoon wheel is the lightest wheel by far.

Also, are we sure that the 16'' volks weigh 11lbs? The 18'' TE37s I had weighed 17lbs, and from what I remembered I thought the 16''s weighed something more along the lines of 14-15lbs.

For ultimate performance, I'd personally go with the Spoon wheels. For ultimate looks and grip I'd go with some custom built HREs.

Ben
