Default Valet key.. trunk pop button... ?

Well, I went to my brothers house to roll my car ahead 1foot (winter parked)... and I brought the valet key with me. I figured I would go in the trunk and check it out to see where I can put a sub if i cant get a sidewall mounted box. Oddly, my Valet key wouldnt open the trunk... which makes perfect sense... except the trunk release button pops open my trunk without keys in the ignition (At least my memory indicates this, my battery is pulled so I couldnt prove this).

Did honda drop the ball ???

I think you are suppose to use your master key to lock the glove box. Locked glove box = no trunk release.

The key doesn't need to be in the ignition for you to use trunk release button. The valet key will not open the glove box and the trunk. So, if the glove box was locked, you wouldn't have been able to open the trunk.

The s2000 has a valet key?
Must be something else I didn't get with my s2000. I only got one key with no spare, and I just had to pay for an owner's manual on e-bay. (I need to go have a spare made at Honda)
Bought mine used from a dealer.

If you need to hide something put it in the secret compartment

When I bought my car brand new I got one nice "S2000" key, 2 fobs, and 2 spare/valet keys.

Salesman asked if i needed another spare "S2000" key but I didn't wanna wait for it cuz I was impatient. I wanted to drive my baby home ASAP!!
