VAFC for '04 S2K
I'm interested in a vtec contoller for my '04, do any '04 owners have this thing up and working yet? I never really understood how a VAFC can be be tuned, doesn't it merely set the RPM in which "VTEC" engages? Please spill your guts about this product if you're using it on your '04.

it's just my opinion.but
hmm.. I don't think VAFC is any beneficial for 04 models. except moving vtec engaging point..
04 has improved A/F mixture and ignition timing.(honda says)
04 consistently runs about a point leaner and never less than a half point leaner on the mixture than the 00-03 models.(what does this "point' mean? 1%?)
this is prettly close to optimal..(reference: TOV review)
I think that's why 00-03 models gain ~8 hp from VAFC (w/ tuning)...
oh btw.. shouldn't this post be in Under the Hood ?

Let me somewhat rephrase, what's the simplest piece of electronics that can be used to manually control the vtec engagement point (RPM) at will without any tuning? Is tuning absolutely necessary if you change this point away from stock? The only reason I ask these questions is because of our ('04's) limited (~2000 RPM) RPM range in vtec and wanting to initiate vtec engagement at lets say closer to 5K RPM rather than 6K. Am I asking for too much here?

Keep us posted, as I am interested too.
I think more than just changing engagement point will be required, however. The fuel maps for 5000 to 6000 are optimized for the low-rpm cam. My understanding is that the high-rpm cam breaths a lot differently, so fuel trim will have to be corrected.
I haven't heard before that the VAFC wouln't work - isn't it normally spliced in anyway? The harness is a fourth-party product by VTEC Frog, isn't it?
