I'm shopping for an s2000, but can only afford a used one. (in college right now, things are tight) anyway, I'm a little scared to purchase a used one, what are the chances that the previous owner didn't drive it hard, or rag it out? I think the smart thing to do would be to wait and get a used one. Do you agree or disagree? TIA

I bought mine used. Let someone else take the hit on depreciation. The only unforeseen problem I had with my00 was a bad HID inverter. Don't be afraid to buy used. Just take the time, check the car out out real well and don't rush your decision.

I too wanted to buy used and not take the big drop in value when you purchase new. I had just gotten rid of a 7 month old Corvette Z06 2002 which I lost over $10,000 in that time!!! never wanted to do that again. But the funny thing about the S2000 is that the used ones where almost the same price as a new one!! Their value does not drop like my vette did and from what I see 2 or 3 years down the road they will hold the same Is that great or what!! So if you can find a well taken care of used S2000 for a good price by all means go for it , but for me I could not find one so I bought new. Good Luck in your search

We bought our MY'00 used, almost a year old with just 3k miles on it and it was perfect. I think you can find some killer deals, especially the folks who bought the car as a weekend car, and have kept it in the garage for the most part. I'm always surprised at how many of those I see.
