The S is a raw no frills sports car. It will be faster on the track but similar to the BoxS on the streets. The Boxster will have slightly more frills a slightly better stereo will be easier to drive aggressively because the power band is more available ...and people will say... Nice Porsche!
To quote best motoring...
"The only reason anyone buys a Boxster, is because they cannot afford a 911."
This statement just about sums it up for me.

I test drove both and decided that I would go with honda's flag ship over Porches intro model.
The Boxster S was pretty fun to drive I will admit. But it feels Ugly as hell from the inside. I don't like the lines of the car when sitting inside. I also don't like the mid engine being a PAIN IN THE ASS to get to. It's great for handling but service is a Biotch...... Although they are supposed to be practically service free engines.
The S feels more aggressive and as about as close to the Boxster S as your going to get in speed.
In short.............get the s2000......... drive the hell out of it till they discontinue it. The Boxster will be around for your grandkids to drive.....

I love the way the Boxster looks, and always thought I'd buy one myself. When it came down to crunch time, though, I went for the S for two reasons:
1) Subjective: I like the design intent of the S2000 more. Simple as that.
2) Objective (here's what counts for you): The OWNERSHIP cost of the Boxster is much higher. I'm not talking about the purchase price, which might be dead-nuts even if you find a good deal on the Boxster. No, I'm talking about maintenance, which the Boxster will require more of, at a far higher cost than the Honda.
However, if I were choosing based on style, or on impressing neighbors, I would certainly have chosen the Boxter (and, incidentally, let no one question that it is indeed a fine sports car).

yep, i also expect the maintenance, insurance costs would be much higher for the boxster than s2k. surprisingly boxster prices have come down so much.. is that b/c the new model is out?
i saw a blue boxster S w/ 18" 5spoke rims, it looked sweeeeeeeet.

The Boxster has an awesome TWO trunks though. You gotta' love that! I sure could use the extra room when planning more than an overnight with my wife on the road.
The Boxster S is a very nice car.
I find the S2000 to be more distinctive visually, though. And Boxsters are everywhere whereas S2000s are relatively rare. That could just be my region though.
