There is a 2000 s2k at a used car specialty dealer near me with 11k miles for 30.5, now last week I looked at a new s2k list was 32.8 dealer went to 32k pretty easily and I am pretty sure I coulda' got him to the 31-31.5 range so I was thinking today would anyone really buy used to save 1 or 2k? I know I wouldn't.

Sparki is completely missing the point. An S2000 will retain its value because:
1. It's a Honda and Hondas historically hold value extremely well
2. The car is in rediculous demand because of the limited production numbers coming to the U.S. every year
3. It is possibly the coolest and best performing car for the price made, and I don't care if Corvettes are faster for their money, I will wave to you on the side of the road....hope your AAA membership is good.

[B]Well Sparki if you understood anything about cars or new engines in general, especially the engine in the S2000 you would know why.

According to KBB.com a 2 year old S2000 retails for 94.9% of a new one. A 2 year old corvette retails for 80.1% of new. The big differance between a new and used is the used will be pay the money and drive off, a new will be agreed upon price +tax, +fees, + options +++. I have never heard of anyone driving a new car off the lot for the agreed upon price. Tax alone will cost you $2500. Another point, anyone who buys a $30k + car and doesn't get it checked out is taking a big chance.

Only time will tell but I'm estimating that when my Spa Yellow 2001 is 5 years old and has approximately 60k -72k miles on her I'll still be able to get between $15,000 and $19,000 for it. That's based on a private party sale. Keep in mind that the S2000 is still being produced in limited numbers ( compared to some of the competition) And that should help owners get a decent price for their used ones.
