Used - S2000 - Who wants them ?
#21
True statements, but this is not the forum for talking your way into a better deal. The issue here is discussing important information about the S2K. Sure you can bash a car to get a better deal, but why bash it in front of people who have put a lot of time and money into owning a car most of them love?
It just seems misplaced and in somewhat poor taste.
Now it would be useful to tell us all about a rebate, or a TSB, or a cool new mod, or a dealer scam, etc.

acx you rock.
However I will mention that Nissan isn't the ONLY Japaness company to be brought/saved, though you are right in that they are the only one to be brought by a French company.
Also the 350Z convertible will be out in a couple of years. Still that is a while yet. I for one am dissapointed by the final outcome of the 350Z, lets see what the RX8 is like.

If you are serious I need to know what you are smokin, cuz i gotta get me some. People bitching about a car with 30-40 miles on it are buying NEW!! When you buy USED you expect the car to have miles on it. Does that clarify the issue for you?

Seems like some here are fearful to hear their S2000 is going dn in value - maybe in 25 years they will come up - no one knows. All I am saying is the market price/value/selling price is coming dn and perhaps this is the time to buy and no I amm not trying to lower the market value - get real - like every dealer reads this little forum.
Seems like at msrp it is a good deal but if the dealer is going below then that is for me and used - never would even consider one - as everyone is going to punch this little engine as it was meant to be punched (fun).
Lowest price I have seen for new is 30650.00 on this forum.
Regards Sparki
sorry if I heard any ones feelings here but as the Honda dealer told me "market Value" and it is finally down on the S2000.

acx, no where am I bashing the S2000, as a hopeful future owner that is not where I was going. Sparki, may be bashing a bit, but I'm not.
All I'm saying is the value of the car, can be dependent on the competition.
If anyone here bought the car as an investment, especially paying 7k or so over MSRP, I'm sorry, thats not an investment.

I paid several dollars over MSRP and I would not take the money back to do it all over again. This car has put a tremendous smile on my face since the day I got it. I could give a rats ass if it is worthless in 5 years because I don't plan on selling it. Plus, it is a Honda, so it will still be worth a considerable amount after those 5 years. I don't really believe that anyone bought this car as an investment. It is about pure thrill and enjoyment!!!!

Oh, on that note, I wouldn't mind a used S2k at all for the right price.
Not all owners beat the heck out of their cars, and it is a Honda. Even if it wasn't broken in properly the car could probably run over 100,000 miles without an issue with regular maintenance.
I know S owners want to baby their cars, but I know a few people who've beat the hell out of their honda and they are near 200,000 miles on their engines.

[B]Johnny - Your dreaming with those numbers - heck you can get brand new for less than MSRP - hate to bust your bubble but the price is droppping on both new and used as quick as the stock market is. Secondly, as I noted no one wants one with any mileage on them let alone 40 , 50 k miles.

Now it sounds like people are making sense. The beginning of this thread was just too off the wall for me to not comment on.
So we agree the S2K was hyped like every other hot product and some bought too high, like an insane tech stock. But love can do weird sh_t to a man (Something About Mary - paraphrase)
If you aren't trying to buy one of first 2000's and then put it in plastic storage bubble, you really can't expect it to be an investment. However I recommend driving and enjoying it, and if you have to sell you will probably not take the extreme loss so many other luxury or sports car owners have to suffer!
BTW: Sparki2 - that was sarcasm/humor about driving down the market, clearly I was exaggerating and delving in a funny conspiracy theory.
- See kids this forum can be fun and educational.
