i bought an ap1 for the sheer fact that the 9xxx rev limit made this car. the only thing i like about the ap2 is the front bumper, and thats why its on my car now

wow don't get so defensive.... you stated... "however, ap1 owners that switch to ap2 did NOT have the choice of choosing ap2, thats why you hear of ap1 owners switching to ap2. But you will not hear of ap2 owners switching to ap1."
and this was right after my post where i specifically stated that i HAD a choice of an ap1 or ap2 both BRAND NEW WITH 3 MILES on the odometer.. and i chose the ap1....
well it looks like i'm an owner of a brand new ap1.. and i had a choice of picking an ap2..... I make your statement 100% wrong...

those that SWITCHED from ap1 to ap2 did NOT have a choice at the time they purchased the ap1.
YOU do not apply to that statement. In other words, you are NOT one that chose ap1 when ap2 was NOT available. I am not talking about you...therefore i was not responding to you post at all.
I am criticizing the question in the INITIAL post that asks for people that switched from AP2 to AP1 and am explaining why there aren't any...because logically, there can't be.

I had an 03 and now have a 04. I personally prefer the 04. I like the new power/torque curve. You only loose 700 RPM on the redline (I believe) but you get more torque in return. It "feels" like a better all around car, more refined... I also think it's better looking, the new wheels make all the difference. This is strictly my opinion!

It is entirely possible that someone out there bought a new AP2 and then turned around and sold or traded it for an AP1. It's just no one on this forum has 'fessed up about it!

and for the purposes of answering the initial post, his questions about the number of people switching from ap2 to ap1 vs people switching from ap1 to ap2 will serve NO purpose in supporting any claim.

Cant go wrong with 00-05. Only thing I like from 04-05 is the headlamp/taillamps. Thats it. I swapped those out so now theres nothing the 04-05 has thats better than a 00-03 IMO.

If I was looking for an s2k and didnt already have one, what I would buy would be a low-mileage 03 with 04-05 front and rear bumper and headlights/taillights. The wheels on the 04-05 are nice too but I dont leave stock wheels on any of my vehicles. And the extra 9 lbs of torque would be moot once the thing is turbocharged.

When I bought my MY03, I had the option of waiting another month til the 04 came out or getting the MY03. I figured I'd better get the MY03 before they were all gone! I knew that the 04 would come with a 8k redline. I didnt need no stinkin torque!! I drove a V6 sedan for 5 years. What I wanted was a go-cart with the 9k redline.
*I realized after I got the s2k that I'm more of a V6 touring coupe type of a guy, but thats another story. lol.
However, If I were to do this all over again, I'd get a MY02 or MY03 in good condition for around 20 grand. I suggest you do the same too.

I have a new 05 so I won't be trading in anytime soon
But like the above posts, I looked at all the models when I decided. The only models I ruled out were 00 and 01 because of the plastic window, and I came very close to getting a Silverstone/Red MY03. It would have been great and saved me a bundle, but I love the wide power band on my 05, especially in city traffic, and I'm also a new car snob, so I'm thrilled with the 05.
As always, drive both, run the new/used equation and don't look back - you really can't go wrong!
