I had "2nd gear poppin out" problem right after I bought my 04.
while my sales person didn't believe my story(he thought I was bad stick driver)..

Other sales person over heard me and told me that he had a customer w/ same problem. (gear pops out while deaccelarating...(slowing down))
I guess gear popping out is little bit common problem for 04 s2k...

My car went to Shop under warranty.
It took 8 days to change "gear set"(syncros?) and some kinda Bearing (not throw bearing)...etc.

oh.. they also changed my front struts because they found some oil residue.

I'm satisfied with Honda's service ..except they gave me a Mini-van(pontiac) for rental car.

how hard was it to get them to do this. on cold mornings, i will get kicked out of first gear. well, i can feel that the shifter goes about 95% of the way to what it usually should, and then i start to move just fine, then BAM, i get kicked out of 1st, feels like someon rear ended me. the first time it happened i actually looked around cuz i thought i got hit, but no one was around. i don't know how to remedy this problem, however it has only happened like 3 times since i bought the car.

yes, i put it in gear as far as i can, it does not go any farther, but i can feel that it is not all the way in though. later on i found that stepping on the clutch, put it in 3rd or second, then put it in first and it goes in just fine. only thing is that i am at the stoplight for a few seconds holding up traffic while i shift through gears to finally get into first. is this a problem i should repair or just live with, it rarely happens, but it happens.

I've got the same issue as meth:
Popping out of 1st gear when the car is cold.
Its an '04 and I've had it four weeks and its done it about four times.

I just don't want to take the car to the dealership then have the service manager say he couldn't reproduce the problem.
