Default unique soft top question

So I have a bit of a weird soft top question.. the opposite of the one most people have actually.

My soft top straps were completely worn out (just like most everybody elses it seems) I went ahead and ordered the modifry straps, cut my old ones off, installed the modifry ones. And they pull the middle bar back no problem as they are supposed to, but i found the middle bar would not return forward by itself when putting the top back up.

To troubleshoot I went ahead and removed the straps completely and tried it again, and once again the middle bar does not even attempt whatsoever to return itself forward when the top comes up.

I would imagine that there is supposed to be some type of mechanical device that is supposed to pull this forward when the top comes up? But I for the life of me, no matter how much I search or the internet, or look at it.. cannot figure out what it is. I would imagine it would have to be a spring or something of that sort. If anyone has any ideas of what pulls that bar forward, please let me know. thank you.

Yes, that bar is pushed forward by leverage, so that when the top portion goes forward, there is some tension on the other side of the arms (pulling them back), so that the bar goes forward.

Was your softtop replaced before? I think I had a similar problem with mine. The previous owner had replaced the softtop but whoever did the job didn't redo that middle bar properly. There's supposed to be a wide strip of softtop (as wide as the whole top itself) that wraps around the bar, and pulls the bar forward when the top is up. If the strip is just connected to the front but not wrapped around the bar, the strip will be slack and won't pull the bar forward when the top goes up.
