Yes, you were way past the point where the skip shift works. I can't remember exactly but it is below 2000 rpm but it is also in combination with throttle position too - something like below 2K rpm and less than 1/2 throttle.

Vipers also have it but theirs is set much lower, closer to 1500 rpm so it's rare that even under normal driving, you would notice the skip shift cut in.

Good luck with the Vette. Don't forget to put in your order for some gold chains and silk shirts.

Just as that great statesman, Moral Compass, and all around Party animal, William Jefferson Clinton, once said
I feel your pain
. No one should hafta suffer like you seem to be. So just drive it down here, drop it off at The Trace Inn where I work, and I will give it a good home. This also goes for any others that don't like their S2000's. I know, I know, You are wondering how could he possibly stand having one or more of these automotive debacle's, In his garage, well it will be an enormous burden, but, that's just the kinda guy I am.
Peace, Out!

Oh Yes,
Almost forgot, I am willing to perform this service at absolutely
no charge to you. Except of course the gas money or freight charges it takes for it to get here.

I don't know why noone has recomended this but I would look at the Porsche Boxster S with 260 BHP and lots of torque (can't remember exact figures) plus the build quality is there as well as the handling. Since the engine is a 3.2L there is no issue with having to drop down a gear to accelerate. That would be my second choice to the S2K since it just doesn't excite as much as my car but is an awesome car either way.
