Turbo Honda engine
reported on autoweek.com
260 lb-ft
2007 ACURA RDX
ON SALE: July
BASE PRICE: $30,000 (est.)
POWERTRAIN: 2.3-liter, 240-hp, 260-lb-ft turbocharged I4; awd, five-speed automatic
CURB WEIGHT: 3968 lbs
0 TO 60 MPH: 7.4 seconds (mfr.)
RDX is powered by a 2.3-liter turbocharged intercooled four-cylinder with i-VTEC. Since this engine will likely bolt easily into a lot of existing Hondas, it is sure to be a hit with tuners. The turbo features a variable flow design to keep power up at lower rpm.

I know this was posted before, but I personally am curious whether anyone thinks this might make a good platform on which to build a next generation of S2Ks or whether the nature of the engine would diminish what makes the S2000 truly special.
I looked around the net for some techinical information on the new engine in the RDX, but couldn't find anything with any detail in it.

It doesn't have any more hp than the F22C, so the car wouldn't be any faster. The 240hp happens at 6000rpm, which means the torque has dropped to 210 lb-ft by then. That's a huge dropoff, and I hate driving cars with engines like that. Redline is at 6800rpm, and I can't imagine how pathetic it's performance would be at that point, if the torque drop continues. No thanks, I'll keep the F series.
