Default TSB054 and MY02

Has anyone had the TSB054 notice done on their 2002? Mine seems to have the symptoms, but all the posts I've seen are for earlier years. I've got about 9000 miles on it.

The 2002 model supposedly included the new part.

Mine is the same. It's an '02 and grinds from 1st to 2nd all the time.

Changing to a better tranny oil fixed my 2nd gear grinding problems. I was grinding into 2nd gear 2~3 times per day for months. I now change my tranny oil at every 3000 miles with Redline MT-90, and I never grind into 2nd.

I did that already.

It seemed to work for a while, but now it's back.

I also notice 5th gear notchiness from time to time.

I take extra caution to shift slowly and pause between shifts.

I found that my 2nd gear would start to grind again once the tranny oil had more than 3K miles on it. That is why I now change it every time I change my engine oil.

Grind?? I've never experience any. Mine just shift so smoothly.

I have a MY02 and have noticed this problem. It happens usually when the car/tranny is warmed up. This weekend it was in the 60's and 70's and I had a few street encounters, and both times I got the grinding. It also happened on a downshift from 3rd to 2nd doing about 15mph. I was like WTF! I was going to bring it in today, but it was only 50 degrees and I didn't want the dealership to find nothing wrong.

I tried taking mine to the dealer, but they said there wasn't anything they could do. They just suggested I shift slower. I was able to reproduce the problem for the mechanic, but that didn't matter.

Better oil is the best solution (Redline MT-90).
