TSB for clutch - how did you get the dealer to do it?
I know the local dealers wanted my previous S2000 to actually grind on a test drive....so i never had it done... this '01 S2000 has the same grumbling/resonance from the transmission so i was thinking i may try the TSB thing again.....
I need some ammo on getting it done.... i did get that awefull clutch burn today when starting out..... if you could just bottle that smell and sell it... yummmm...
thanks

I simply brought a hardcopy of the TSB with me to the dealer and explained what my clutch was doing. I also mentioned that many people on this forum have had the same problem (buzzing/resonance) with their clutches. It took two test drives (one with a service advisor and the second with the service supervisor) to get them to approve the TSB-054 work.

Brought the TSB to the dealer, they test drove the car and said that it was noisy. They then stated that since it was clutch related and that the clutch was only warranted for 12K miles they would not do it as warrantee work. They would, however, be happy to do it for $800 if I was willing to pay.

12K for the clutch? I read the whole warranty manual and never saw that written anywhere. Did I miss something? Also the TSB states the repair can be done "out of warranty" as a good will gesture.
I hope you can convince the dealer of this since it is a known flaw.

I called the service dept, told them I had a problem outlined in a TSB, and wanted to see if they had the right parts in stock (I wanted the new TSB-054 parts). They said they needed to order them and did so, and sent me a notice when the parts were in. I then dropped the car off, and picked it up the next day. All better...
They actaully ordered the parts without me ever coming in, and did the work with no test drive required. I just brought it in and dropped it off. I was even able to look at the TSB they had to make sure it was the updated one. The only thing they wouldn't do was cover the cost of a rental for the day...

and to add... I'm SSSSOOOOOO glad I did it. I can't believe I put up with that decceleration noise for so long.

Just depends on the dealership. I brought a hardcopy of the TSB and that's it. He ordered the parts and told me whenever I'm ready. I figure when it's starts to slip or I buy a Spoon Clutch it'll be the perfect time to get it done. The head mechanic said he would install the Spoon for me @ no charge.

I called my dealer, told them the symptoms, they explained that the TSB services were available, ordered the parts and then I brought the car in and they did oth the 054/055 services in one stop. No hassles at all!
The Decell noise is pretty easy to substantiate anyways...i was worried that I'd never be able to show the grind on demand, but there was no questions from the dealer.
Good luck with yours!
