Default The Truth About Cusco Cages

ok iv been searching around and looking at cages and roll bars
iv been seeing alot of cusco cages, iv seen the 4 point, 4 point with harness bar and a 6 point

now i dont know much about the s2k model, but iv heard for years that the one for the civic hatch and integra was complete junk and whould just fold in an accident, from lack of cross bracing

now iv been looking at the ones for s2k's and they look better, the one id be interested in and whould buy whould be the 4 point with harness bar, iv seen people remove there stock roll bar, now i think i whould keep the stock rollbar, i just god forbid dont want to get into an accident one day and rollover and have this cusco roll bar fail and i or somone else get really hurt

so are these things safe and ok to use, for aggressive backroad street driving and some track driving?

im looking for input from owner and people with real first hand expierence, not from some guy who heard from his friend that talked to this guy at this shop one time

NO, You don't want a cage unless you are wearing a helmet. This is why honda covered the OEM roll bars that way they did.

The point is not the cage or it's design. The point is that it is a street car and that your head is not protected while you drive. As for how well it is on the track is another topic all together.

Vlaimir L: roll bar is fine, since your melon will not hit the bar with the seatbelt on, but for roll cage there's a big bar just inch left of your melon.
not sure about you but there's alot of faster guy running roll cage in their civic/teg, they track/drag the car so often that it's a waste of time using removable bar.

let me look up the post about some dude flipped his EG down the mountain pass with the cage, the whole roof is crushed down and the roll cage saved his melon.

to mr. V

rollbar is fine, since your melon will not contact the bar if you have yourseat belt on, but for rollcage, there's a bar just inches left of your melon, your head could swing and bash your left brain into it
