I figured out how to put it back together. The trunk release solenoid works fine and the lock itself unlocks easily enough, but the trunk release had broken off and was just dangling by its cords. I managed to get it back on although the plastic that was drilled through to make a hole for a screw had broken so it's stuck on by only 1 screw and superglue on the other side.

It works for now, thanks for your all's help
