Default Trunk lid slightly raised up on the driver's side

I just notice that the trunk lid is slightly raised up on the driver's side by about 1/8 inch, and thus there is a gap. I try turning the rubber knob on the lid but it does not help. Any idea how I can close the gap?

Your car likely has a prior accident repair. Or someone slammed the trunk shut when an object was in it that was too big, causing something to bend. Or, a prior owner had a carbon trunk lid, and whoever put the stock one back on didn't align it right. photo would be helpful. Check your trunk lid and bumper for the vin tags.

The car is never in an accident. I just check the VIN tag on the lid and the bumper and they both match my car's VIN.

Here is the photos. It is difficult to tell from the photos because it looks normal, but I can tell when I walk close to it, which is the problem.

Maybe like you said, the left hinge is slightly bent due to a large object put into the trunk?

You have photos of the hinges? May need to re-tweak the bent one back into shape. Prolly easier with trunk lid removed.

Seems bending the hinge is the way to go. Alternatively, I am also thinking of adding a 1/8" spacer to the hinges where the trunk is hooked up.

They have quite a bit of adjustment where hinge bolts to body. Removed latch. Wife got in trunk and shut it. I postioned trunk lid with her help then she tightened bolts while in trunk. Removed latch first so it wouldn't influence position of trunk lid. Sounds terrible but works rather well. Have to have good wife....little wife.

I had to read that twice. Sounds like an interesting trust exercise.

I think my wife would suggest role swap.

I think there were no issues with trust here.
Most trunk lids on these cars could use a little tweak and some front and rear bumper covers too.

Common problem and not just with the S. Trunk is full, you press down to get it latched. Couple of times later: presto! Not aligned anymore.
