No I'm not practicing in Melissa.
I have been practicing in my slammer. It really is a good way to hone your heel/toe skills and rev matching. That shifter won't go unless the revs match perfectly. But when they match it slides into place like butter.

Don't do it on your S2ook. I won't be responsible for someone trashing their tranny.
Try it at when slowing for a corner or stop. When you would normally put the clutch in and heel/toe to burp the throttle and rev match for the next lower gear, just don't use the clutch. Just pull it out of gear. You still have to heel/toe and bring the revs up, only the shifter will not go in unless the rev match is perfect. If the revs are right, the shifter will slide into place just as if the clutch was used.
Like I said, use the beater. You will probably grind the first time or two.
I've had to drive many a truck that required a bit of finesse to shift.

Years ago, I had a RWD Ford Escort (that means nothing, I know) that did it beautifully. They used the box (transmission) on Lotuses and things. My current MX-5(Miata) isn't interested in coming out of gear however you feather the throttle (gas pedal). I will try the S2K (Stook) once it finally arrives. BTW, I heel & toe gearchanges in any case, & that's just as smooth. The one thing I notice of my girlfriend's Civic VTi (Oh, F**k the divided by a common language s**t!) is the difference in response between non-VTEC and VTEC throttle response. Blip the throttle off-VTEC, go floss your teeth before downchanging. On VTEC, surge forward because you've over-revved it! Still, if it's this much fun in a Civic, I can't wait for my S2000 to arrive!

About 10 years ago, I was in Nashville making a delivery when the clutch went out in my truck. I had to drive all the way back to Atlanta with no clutch. I wasn't bad on the freeway, but when I got back to town, it took me 2 cycles of the stop light to get through Windy Hill Road and 41 to get it back to the dealer. I was stuck and couldn't get it to go into second or third to make it through the intersection.
