Transmission grinding
Since I accumulated about 1k miles I've been having occasional 1st to 2nd and back to 1st gear grinding. I've been driving sports cars for years and have never had any problems before. Does the S2K have a history of tranny problems? I have a '02 model with 3300 miles on it.

This has been discussed more times than I can remember. If you are referring to the notchy feel on 2nd and 3rd, this is a normal byproduct of the triple cone synchronisers in the tranny.

I have an '02 with 17K miles on it. The 2nd gear grinding is common for all year models. Some do it, some don't. The dealer is probably going to blow you off, like they did me. I was grinding a couple times a day into 2nd gear until I went to a better transmission oil. This is NOT the same issue as the "notchy" 3rd gear.
I used GM Synchromesh for about 7K miles, but found that it started grinding again after about only 4K miles, so I changed it again. Now I'm using Redline MT-90. I think the Redline MT-90 is a bit too thick for winter though, since it is really hard to shift for the first couple miles. My next change will be with a 50/50 mix of Redline MTL and Redline MT-90.
