Default Tranmission Differences between MYs

Hey All,
I have always told myself I would buy a '02+ s2k (will be in the market in about a month or two for an s2k), but am finding decently low milage 2000 and 2001 models which I could replace the plastic rear window with a glassed top. My question is that I used to have a '00 Celica and I had mishifted on more than one occasion. I was under the impression that the '02 and up models had different transmissions dynamics that allowed for less probable mistakes (such as misshifts). Does anyone have any references on the difference if there are differences. For the record, since the Celica (in 2000) I have owned 5 speed cars (several integras, nissans, a volvo <--- haha) and have never had this issue reoccur (I do take total responsibility though and realize that I was a moron for doing it, besides the point of my question though). I know when the s2k first came out there were quite a few folks (like GTS owners) that had made the fatal mistake of the 3rd to 2nd shift and am under an assumption that there were changes made in later years.

The S2000 transmission is great no matter which year, as long as it hasn't been abused. If you know *how* to shift, you can shift the S2000..

Question is, do you know how to shift?

The Ap2 models have carbon synchros while the AP1 have brass synchros. Also, the gearing is different between AP2 and AP1 models.

Carbon syncros, more synchros, and some other parts are better in the AP2 gaerbox, but the shift gate is the same for all. If you don't know how to shift, you can blow your engine in either model.

I'm having a hard time trying to understand how one could possibly shift from 3rd to 2nd while trying to shift to 4th.... it's straight back how do you mess that up? 5th to 4th I can understand or 4th to 3rd but seriously 3rd to 2nd?
