I like how the 350Z looks from the outside but when I sat in one, I could not believe how poor the interior turned out.
Way too much plastic for my tastes and the thing was creaking on the showroom floor. Loved the seats but that was
about it. I figure after six months on the road, all that plastic on the inside is going to be seen as less luxury and more
annoying.
I hope yours is the Wednesday afternoon model.
On that note, it's fun reading "Sold the S," or "traded in the S2000" threads because
they sound like the first conversation someone has after breaking up with their girl.
The entire conversation is spent recalling her faults. Lost are all the good memories...least until you realize your new girlfriend has s**t stains in her panties as well.
It seems to me you were just tired of S2000 ownership since the '04 model certainly
appears to have addressed all the complaints you mentioned.
Nonetheless, happy motoring.

Well I guess it's time for my FIRST post!
I just sold my 350Z and bought an S!
I had a black Performance model and just sold it to buy my dad's 2001 S2k.
The S has only 10,000 miles and is in perfect condition.
My Z was very reliable, fun, and powerful so I'm not here to bash.
That said, I loved driving my dad's S much more and wanted a convertible badly so when he decided to buy an '04 S2k...I'm now a member of this forum!
I officially make the transfer of my Z with the buyer tomorrow (Thu) and pick up dad's S this weekend...I absolutely can not wait!!
Both cars are fantastic but bottom line for me was the handling of the S and my desire for a convertible.
Since you bought an 04, you shouldn't have many of the annoying first year problems.
Good luck with it and be safe!

Another 'Z owner to the fold! Welcome. As one departs, one enters. Ah yes...
the world of sportscar ownership. We are a fickle bunch, are we not? I love
my S2000 (the best car I've ever owned, among 24) but would trade it immediately
for a Pagani Zonda.
Powerball! Hey, it could happen.
Until then, our side of $50K, nothing else comes close (my .02). The Lotus is
nice but a bit too kit car-ish for my tastes and besides, I'll never own a British car (it's a personal issue based on horrible
memories with British Leyland). I'm not entirely convinced things have
improved.
Again, welcome to oversteer central. You'll get used to it and grow to love the
tail waggin' S2000.

The May 17 AutoWeek has the summary of the long-term 350Z - it is not pretty. if you want details and cannot find it in Barnes & Noble, PM me and I will summarize. 8 out of 72 reported transmission replacements, some multiple times?! 54 of 72 had tire probs.

1999: S2k is the perfect roadster, honda reliability, blah blah blah...
2000: 2000 was the first model year so there were some problems but they will be fixed next year. It's always the case with first model year of ANY car.
2001: Turns out MY2001 still has problems, honda issues some TSBs and promises to fix them for next year.
2002: Honda has redesigned the trany, modified the suspension, etc, all problems are gone. Sucks to own a previous model s2k - no glass rear window and all the problems. Wait a few months. Damn, the trany/clutch is still screwed up and even worst the old TSB don't apply so you can't do anything abou it.
2003: Ok, now all the problems have been fixed, FINALLY. Guess what? Think again!
2004: Major redesign, back to square one....... the story goes on.......
