Go check out www.kbb.com or www.edmunds.com . Just make sure you have tissue paper handy for when you start crying. $27K sounds about right for you. I recently checked on my 2001 with 18K -- those sites say $22-23K trade, $25-26K private sale, but depends on your region.

I thought that it was the FX45? And $27k is about right.

Also, why must you buy another car? Does your financee have a kid or something? I'm sure that her car is larger. Why must you sell your car? Who's going to wear the pants in your household?

And just because you have one kid doesn't mean that you need an SUV. I'd much rather get a slightly used 5 series BMW or an E Class for the price that you'll be paying for the FX.

$27K sounds about right to me too. Check out your local Carmax... they usually give top dollar of super-low mileage, "good as new" showroom jewelry.

Just be sure of your state's sales tax laws (for the new purchase)... some require you pay pay sales tax on the entire purchase price, while others have you pay on the net sales price (new car selling price minus trade allowance). if your state does the latter, then carmax probably isn't the way to go.

good luck with the marriage... don't let her drive YOUR car, no matter what you end up with!

It seems like she's already telling him what car he needs, she might as well be driving it too.

indeed!

my wife and i drive similar SUV's. i just keep mine real dirty and filled with tools and dog stuff, so she won't get in it and screw it all up. when i changed the shift knob on the S, she informed me that she hated it and wouldn't drive it anymore... aaawwwwwwwww darn it, no more seat moved up against the steering wheel, unchecked oil levels, music left on a crappy station, mirrors aimed all wrong..... boo hooo i'm all busted up over that one

I just(1 month) traded an 02 S2000 in for $24,500, and that took a lot of arm twisting to get that much.
