.........or for people with some common sense ?
A few months ago i drove a friends' Porche Carrera S on a skidpan. The difference with or without traction control was quite staggering. In fact without traction control the Porche was far less controlable than my S2000. All this on quite modest speeds. Even the instructor made some nice 180

Well one doesn't NEED VSA.

Since I have an 06 and have driven it hard both with it on and off the only benefit that it has is to potentially save you from doing something stupid if you leave it turned on.

I turned it off for autocrossing/track use and never had a problem, on the street I leave it on cause I'll allow it to try to save me if I do something bad, or hydroplane, etc, etc.

It's beneficial for the car IMO, but not absolutely required..

I find it funny when people make fun at the expense of VSA. Face it, there are things VSA can do that you will never be able to. There aren't four brake pedals.

Someone should just make a list of these people and rub it in their face if they ever have a situation.

The VSA is a nice addition, but it can't conquer physics.
Sure, but as you said in another post it's a big help in some 'situations'..

Looks like VSA would sure help in the winter as well as on hot days with the asphalt roads around here. I managed to break the rear tires loose when I shifted to 2nd this afternoon. Not a chirp but a full burnout. Surprised me a little but I managed to keep it going straight down the road. Bet I impressed the SUV I was passing. I wonder if it will do that going from 2nd to 3rd?

I just think that you would be a lot better off trying to really learn how to control the car than to spend the money to convert your throttle cable to a drive by wire and add all the other stuff that goes along with it.
