Also forgot to mention that I won't be able to travel or leave this area at all due to Army stuff for the next 4 or 5 months. So if I'm going to get another S, I'm limited to this area. Which is quite frankly, a xxxxhole and a terrible place to buy a car

He won't do anything to me in the future because: I know where he lives, I know what car he drives, his license plate number, his phone number, the fact that he's in the Army, and if something were to happen again, he'll probably find himself dead in the desert somewhere. The bonds of brotherhood are strong, and I've got a lot of brothers. Getting caught in the act the day after it happens, will most likely deter him from ever attempting to do something like it again.

I believe you are incorrect. I was a Navy legal officer (job besides being an aviator) I am familiar with the UCMJ. Talk to your XO. This guy needs to be held accountable for his actions.

As an aside, if the incident occurred on on a base, look into filing a claim with the government. Go see a JAGG.

Good luck.

you didn't have the seats back when you filed, I am going to guess... thus, getting them back is merely something which occurred in the aftermath.. they totaled it already..

i'd rebuild it.. glad you got the seats back, very rare...

send the guy to Leavenworth, it's your duty... your not the judge, you did not force him to do this.. you are the victim, as well as the hero.. so you can have all the sympathy for this guy you wish, inside, and you still need to turn this guy in go to the MP's, since again, I am guessing this occurred upon a military base or.. well, ?? don't you then become guilty of covering up a crime.. ok.. that was fun...

you made the decision to declare this guy did the trunk.. good luck on that one...

I'm of the opinion that if you don't tell your insurance company that you have your seats back, you are committing insurance fraud- and you may face jail time for that.

I am not a lawyer but this sounds like insurance fraud.

Well, what's done is done, and I may actually have a good deal on a car in this town. So I may be up some seats. And as for JAGG, and the MP's none of them are reliable, and have a reputation for screwing everyone over down here. I trust the guys I work with, but nobody else cares what happens to someone else down here that they're not affiliated with. Thanks for the best wishes, I'll let everyone know how this turns out.

If you want to leave the perp out of it, that is your call. However, if you inform the insurance company you recovered the seats, they may likely not declare it salvage and go ahead and fix things up and you will be back to where you were before the crime.

You don't want to get caught in a fraud deal and you will come out better off anyway.

If I was in your situation, I would turn this guy in asap. This guy pretty much destroyed your S2K, causing you to go through this headache, a claim on your policy, and possible rate increases down the road? Regardless of his situation, ties to you, military, you got your seats back and whatever, that thief needs to be turn in. He might try it again. Can you give me his information so I can turn him in?

At the very least the guy that damaged your car should be the one paying to fix it.
