[QUOTE=chickdr,Mar 6 2008, 04:54 PM]Kudos to you zoomkat. Most people on this site keep digging a deeper hole even when it is obvious they are wrong.

I'll be patching mine soon to prevent damage. I'm very surprised there isn't any yet.

Update: It's been about a week now and I still DON'T have my car. I called them yesterday and the service rep. says they had to order the rain guard (he says everytime they change the top, they have to change this???). He couldn't give me an answer when I asked them why they didn't order it when they ordered the soft top. I called the dealership again today and the service rep says that they're waiting for the rest of the rivets to come in. Supposedly only 5 of the 11 rivets for the rain guard came in? hmmm... interesting. They couldn't give me an eta on when the car would be back in my possession. Something isn't right about this whole mess. I contacted American Honda about this whole thing and it seems like they will check on it urgently Most likely going to be another 2-3 business days before I even hear from them. Maybe i'll go to the dealership and create some ruckus.
Does anyone else think this is

I think you are totally right zoomkat.
I made this when the car was 6 months old, and after 2.5 years no problems.
Please do it!
Simply a piece of thin soft sub box cloth super glued to itself to make a protection sock around the elbow.

My theory is that the area of the hinge marked with the black arrow is or gets sharp due to the metal to metal contact and when the roof is folded it is at the position marked by the red arrow.
This then cuts the roof when it is folded.

Shopman, the black arrow is pointing to the sharp edge on the hinge that is causing the ware on my top. I'll probably see if I can round the edge off with a dremal tool and maybe put a small patch on the inside of the top at the ware point to reinforce the spot. What is "bass box cloth"?

They probably were not careful drilling out the rivets and damaged it.

Watch out for the roll hoops. They need to be removed to replace the roof and sometimes they take the short cut of splitting them down the plastic seam
I know all about the rollbar covers. They F'd it up the last time I had it fixed and the car ended up staying there for another 2 days. I told them about it again this time. Hopefully they will listen. If the car has to stay there after I go pick it up, i'm gonna be even more pissed. I just want my car back in one piece!

As for the DIY preventative cover...very clever. I'm going to do something like that this time. Only reason I didn't do it already after they replaced it the first time was because they said that there was no longer a sharp edge there. Of course, they were wrong. Thanks for the pics.

Sub box cloth sorry I'm from the UK-different language

Black felt would work just as well.

I tried it with Velcro first but glueing it works better.
