torn soft-top again...RANT
My experience at a local dealership: (I also posted this in Upstate NY regional)
Some of you may know that my soft top on my 2005 s2000 with only 17k on the odo. has been replaced once before. Well it is once again getting worn down in the same spot. I took it to the dealership to get it replaced once again after less than a year of use. They agreed to have the their rep look at it and give his input. I told them that the car will be out of warranty in a few years and I do not want this same problem happening down the road when out of warranty. They agreed to replace it and try to fix the problem for good.
Today, I went back to this Honda dealership so that I could talk to the service manager about other services I wanted done to the car and ask them how long my car was going to sit there. He asked me if I've ever had anyone sitting on my top with it down. I told him that I never did such a thing and looked at me like I had two heads. He sat me down and told me that one of his employees saw me last summer going down Central Ave. with a passenger and a girl sitting on the top while it was down. He said that the employee said this to him and the rep., and the rep told him to tell me that this was the last time they were going to replace the top. I, of course, told him that there was no way it was me. h then told me that this employee described me and my car. I told him that there were about 5 other black s2000's in the area. But he said that mine was the only one with this "sound" (talking about my exhaust) and "distinctive look." So i'm sitting there and I couldn't believe what I was hearing and my blood boiling. I didn't want to argue. I was just straight forward and honest. I told him that this was a problem in the s2k community and had him look at the numerous soft top threads on s2ki. While he was looking through some of the threads he simply I told him that I was going to email him more and that he should email this to the rep as well. I then shook my hand and I left. For now, I will not post what dealership it is, but if you PM me I will be more than happy to tell you. I'm still heated right now and debating on calling American Honda about this. I felt like I was accused and they pretty much told me that if this happened again they would not cover it (though they couldn't fix the problem the first time they replaces my top). If people have any pictures and any more links to torn tops on the passenger side, post them here and I will send it to the service manager. Thanks s2ki

I would have wanted to go eye to eye with the employee in the presence of the service manager.
If he continued to lie ,it wouldn't do you much good but he might have admitted that it wasn't you.
If you don't get an appology from this dealer, don't give them anymore business even if you have to go out of your way to get to another dealer.l

I would have asked to speak to the employee making the accusations...
reason being. If you question the employee, he will either defend his story or not have a clue what you are talking about. My guess would be B. A fabricated story leaving the manager to explain himself.
So was it a midget you had on the top cuz that space is tiny?

I am definitely never going to that dealership again. I tried to get him to bring that employee out, but all he could say was that it's a small town and my car is very noticeable. Supposedly i'm the only one with a black s2000 with an aftermarket exhaust I'm most likely going above his head about this matter. Right now I just want the work to be done right and get my car back.

Well I guess she could have spread her legs and draped them on each side of the passenger seat.
Do you have a hole through your head rest?

My car is currently in for its second top replacement (within 6 months of each other) for the same thing. They didn't accuse me of anything and if they did..... oh, i would IMMEDIATELY go to american honda.
That's crap.
