Top Speed in each gear?

119 in 4th? Wow. How far into the red line were you? I could only get to 115 after just kissing the redline. I would say 113 respectively in 4th. The fastest I've driven the S was 143, but didn't keep track of the rpm's in 5th but i can tell you I had plenty more to go in 6th.

my '04 redlined in 4th at 100, 5th at about 130. But 139 top speed in 6th?? Dude there is something very wrong with your car. 152 here - drag limited - could not quite pull redline in 6th - close, but not quite.

Anyone have the figures for MY04?
Here are the approximate top speeds I use to determine the gear to downshift into:
1st - 40
2nd - 60
3rd - 80
4th -100
5th - 120
6th - 140

Anyone try to go SLOWLY to redline? I noticed the speedometer is REALLY slow at updating. I thought 60km/h was max in first gear but realized I can hit 70km/h by just sitting at redline for awhile climbing SLOWLY. Thought my ears were going to bleed though.

That's an interesting topic - does the digital dash really update that slowly? I mean, you're saying it was 10km/h behind and you had to wait on it to catch up. Are you talking half a second, or several seconds?
Anyone else had noticable dash update issues?

If you want true speeds you really need a GPS box as speedos are usually setup to over-read, I'd say an indicated speed of 170mph is possible if your speedo is 10% out (which they can be).
I've seen 147mph in 6th with more to go, having a hard-top on helps a lot!
