AP2 has a lower potential top speed than the AP1 based on gearing. But both max out at about 150mph due to aerodynamics with stock hp.
All motor baby with only an ASM exhaust.

BTW thats me holding the camera
Thats approx. 2.5 miles a minute, I left my manhood at 4th at 115MPH
Don't forget you can't stay too long above 100 MPH in an AP1 because of the banjo bolts.

Theoretical top speed of an AP1 is about 165mph. With higher hp, some s2k owners can acheive that.
so, maxed out is around 150 because of lack of HP/torque or air drag? but i felt like i can go faster, if not for the 8000rpm limiting me at 6th gear... just curious that's all

Funny you say that - 6th is a legit gear for acceleration if you're on a race track with a long enough straight. 5th tops out at about 138, I've hit 129 at Texas World Speedway. So it'd be nice to leave 6th like it is, and add a 7th uber-tall gear for highway cruising, much like the Vette. I don't mind cruising at 4000+ rpm for long times, but for longevity and mileage it'd be nice to turn some lower revs.

How much truth to this statement?

I have an AP1 MY02 and haven't heard of that as a HUGE concern.

yeah, i was thinking about it the other day, that it wouldn't really be a bad idea to have a 7th gear, i feel like it'll still be strong enough to at least cruise on freeways, at least for AP2, not sure if the little extra torque bump makes a diff, maybe it will be enough for AP1 too..

Well the MYs 00-mid 02 only had 2 banjo bolts. Depending on what VIN number you have in MY 02 depends if you have 2 or 4 banjo bolts. After that every model year has 4. What happens is, according to research, people I've spoken to; if you are above 100 MPH for an extended period of time you might score the cylinder walls due to not enough oil and possibly blow the motor. THe effects are greater if you are FI. This what was happening with the S2Ks in Europe that frequently travel over 100 MPH for an extended period of time on the autobahn. If any of this seems incorrect to some one with more knowledge please chime in. Solution to this problem is the banjo bolt DIY mod. I'm sure some one here can post a link.
