Default Top Problem

This is just an FYI.

I have a 2007 S2000. I've had it for 2.5 years. Two weeks ago I noticed some pin size holes in the top on both the driver's side and the passenger's side. The holes are about 10 inches from the windshield and about 2.75 inches from the top of the side window. The wear is from the inside, and it looks like something is rubbing on the top. My top goes up and down frequently. Unless it is raining or below 50, my top is down.

The good news is that Honda is replacing the top under warranty. The dealer representative that this wear is not the same as the one in TSB 09-033. He also said that Honda regional representative said that he had never seen anything like it on another S2000.

That's a pretty common area where the top starts to rip. It has something to do with the elastic band that retracts the top back. Usually it needs to be pretty tight.

This is the culprit.

This is the best photograph explaining the issue I have seen yet. Thank you soooo much!

Take it in - there is a TSB to refinish the top and maybe you can get a new top.

No, that is not where my top wore. This hole is at the back of the side window. Mine was about 10 inches from where the top attaches to the windshield.

As I said, Honda is repairing it under warranty. However, I'm worried. The dealer has had the car for two days. The dealer's representative said that Honda is not just replacing the top, but all the mechanics for the top. I wonder whether the technician really knows what he is doing.

it will prolly take 1 or 2 days more. when i took my top to be examined and replaced because of the issue mentioned on the pic. honda took 2 days to just install the top itself. now if there replacing every single thing then expect longer times. also remember that the honda shop guys only prolly work from like 8 or 9 am to like 5 or 6 pm, depending on your area.

Thanks. That's reassuring. The dealer said he might finish it today (day three).
