I too have wondered about this problem. I have a decibel reader and Ill see how high it registers on the highway with the top down and up. I have meant to do this, but have never gotten around to it....BTW i also rode my honda CBR with earplugs to prevent hearing loss. perhaps we should be doing the same with the car....
im interested to see what you find out!!

2 hrs of highway probably equates to 10 to 15mins of damage to your ear drums at a club

The wind noise doesn't bother me.
I think that's the same feeling with motorcycles.
It doesn't bother you because of the type of sound it is, it's dull and low, but that doesn't mean it's not loud.

Motorcyclists generally aren't bothered by the wind noise either, but it causes alot of hearing damage.

Question is, does an S2000 with the top down equate to damaging levels of wind noise?

Seems like it's a toss-up among the members here.

Get a 70mm single exhaust. Wind noise won't be a problem.
but then I got a hardtop which cutdown on the noise from wind and exhaust

I think it all depends on the type of exhaust you are running. Some after market exhaust can reach 115db or higher. I think legal limit is 93db.

I had an Amuse r1 single, it was very loud. After long drives my ears would be ringing for a few days, so I would say it is possible you can damage your hearing.
